Well, this one certainly didn’t go the way Syracuse University football fans had hoped it might. Tonight on Twitter, the top quarterback prospect on the Orange football recruiting board, Anthony Brown, announced he has committed to Boston College.

So now, Syracuse must move on from its top quarterback target and look to find another signal caller for the class of 2016. One of the other top targets for the Orange in this class, David Moore, is already committed to SMU and sent out some tweets today that seemed to reaffirm his commitment but you have to believe that the Syracuse coaching staff will be pressing hard for the field general whose dad played lacrosse for the Orange in the 1980s.
This one is a tough blow for Syracuse, but the longer the recruitment dragged out, the more it seemed that Brown would start looking elsewhere.
Other options to keep an eye on? Sawyer Smith, DJ Daniels, Jack Brotzki, and also keep the name Jared Gerbino in mind as a sleeper. Smith is a former Alabama baseball commit who the staff is already on, while Daniels is a North Carolina native and friend of Robert Washington. Brotzki plays QB in Syracuse’s backyard at CBA, while Gerbino is a 6-4, 220 pound prospect from Rush Henrietta.
