The Syracuse football staff went north of the border for its newest commit, reeling in Canadian linebacker Tyrell Richards on Saturday. Richards is a 6-foot-3, 216 pound outside linebacker who has also played some defensive back over the years.
Proud to say that I have committed to the University of Syracuse thank you to @CoachTomKaufman and the rest of the Syracuse staff

Richards is the fourth commit for Syracuse in the 2017 recruiting class, and the first of what could be several pickups of the upcoming weekend as the Orange host multiple camp sessions on campus. Obviously, coming from Canada information on Richards is a little harder to find but based on his film, he’s got a very good frame and athleticism, and shows a nice ability to drop back into pass coverage. That’ll be a big help in the Tampa 2.
Richards joins QB Tommy DeVito, WR Sharod Johnson, and DE Zach Morton as commits in the 2017 recruiting cycle. He’s one of a few Canadian players Syracuse has been recruiting during this cycle.
