Recruiting has slowed down considerably for the Syracuse University football program as open spots are dwindling and the current iteration of the Orange hits the field for preseason camp, but one of the top remaining names on the 2016 recruiting board could give Scott Shafer another commitment in just a couple weeks. Jay Rose, a 3-star tight end from Connecticut, has named Syracuse, Wisconsin, UConn, and Wake Forest as his final four schools.
Doing story on Southington QB Jasen Rose. Says his final 4 are #UConn, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Wisconsin. Hopes to make choice w/in 2-3 wks.

We’d been hearing for awhile now that Rose had hoped to make a decision by the end of the summer, and he seems to be more or less on track at this point. Only a couple weeks remain in August, so look for a decision sometime around the first of September. At this point, Syracuse is in very good shape with the 6-foot-4, 225 pound tight end – who played quarterback last season – with Wake Forest and Wisconsin also players. UConn is still a possible landing spot, but it feels at this point as more of a courtesy to the home state university.
Rose visited Syracuse back in June and has been high on the Orange for awhile now. Big and athletic, Rose would have a chance to come in and challenge for immediate playing time due to a little bit of uncertainty at the tight end position going forward.
At this point, I’m feeling fairly confident about Syracuse’s chances. I’d put the Orange on top as we near the decision.
