Things have been a little quiet on the recruiting front for Syracuse football, with Courtney Jackson previously the only commit for the 2019 class. That changed on Wednesday night, however, as New Jersey defensive tackle Joe Rondi picked the Orange.
Rondi comes from Wayne Hills, which has a history of putting out high level Division I players. At 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, Rondi has good size and a solid frame to add some bulk, which he’ll need to play on the interior for the Orange.
Rondi picked Syracuse over Rutgers (a nice win for Syracuse to get a coveted lineman away from the in-state school), Cincinnati, Temple, and Kent State, among others. He’s rated as a 3-star prospect, and a top-30 recruit in the Garden State.
The versatile Rondi has played a lot of defensive end in high school (as well as offensive line), and he’s got solid quickness to get around the edge and rush the passer. Check out his highlights below…
