Well, it took a little longer than I think most of us expected after receiving his offer last weekend, but point guard Howard Washington has committed to Syracuse, he announced on Twitter today.

The 6-foot-3 floor general from Buffalo is the second player from Athlete Institute Prep in Canada to commit to the Orange this year, along with Oshae Brissett, and the third commit overall. Center Bourama Sidibe is also a member of the recruiting class of 2017 for Syracuse.
Point guard is an area of desperate need for the Orange, and Washington provides much needed depth at the position. While not an explosive athlete, he’s still very solid in that regard, and more importantly he can knock down shots from the perimeter and knows how to run a half court offense. He’s a good passer who can create for his teammates, and also provides solid length at the top of the 2-3 zone with his tall frame and long arms.
He’s a smart player who will no doubt work his ass off, with playing for the Orange having been a longtime dream, as he told Syracuse.com recently. Washington was originally committed to Butler as a member of the class of 2016, before decommitting and reclassifying to the class of 2017 to give himself another year to develop.
