New head football coach Dino Babers and his staff are wasting little time on the recruiting trail this week, landing a commitment from offensive lineman Airon Servais last night and extending several new offers, primarily in Florida and Illinois, today. One of the latest to get an offer from Syracuse University is athlete Jack Wegher.

Wegher is a 5-foot-11, 200 pound running back from IMG Academy in Florida, whose older brother, Brandon, is currently a member of the Carolina Panthers. Wegher is currently committed to Purdue, and also boasts offers from Colorado State and, yes, Bowling Green. The athletic Wegher is listed as a 3-star talent by

It’s clear watching Wegher’s film that he’s a talented athlete, and the things that really jump out are his burst and how smoothly he changes direction. He’s dangerous in finding lanes and accelerating through them, and could be a valuable asset for the Dino Babers offense. He could very well wind up being a terrific pass catcher either in the slot or coming out of the backfield.

Check out Weghers highlights up at the top of the post.

Among the others to get offers today were 4-star, class of 2016 offensive lineman Sean Foster, who had previously been committed to Minnesota, as well as 3-star defensive end Joshua Uche, who is currently committed to Miami. Among the 2017 recruits to get offers today were 4-star wide receiver Jaylen Harris, an Ohio native who basically has offers from every program under the sun, as well as Sunshine State recruits Christopher Henderson (RB/WR), Guy Thomas (DE), and Trajan Bandy, a highly touted cornerback who happens to be tight with current Syracuse safety Antwan Cordy. Also getting an offer is 2017 defensive lineman Jacub Panasiuk of Illinois, whose brother, Mike, is a 2016 recruit who Scott Shafer and his staff had gone after until he committed to Michigan State.

It’s been a whirlwind 48 hours since Dino Babers took the reins at Syracuse, and you had better believe the flurry of activity will continue through the rest of the week. Moe Neal, Rex Culpepper, and Scoop Bradshaw are all taking official visits this weekend, and you can bet the staff will be trying to get more prospects to join them this weekend and moving forward.
