Well, this has proven to be an extremely eventful day. Shortly after Syracuse University announced that Daryl Gross has resigned from the position of athletics director, news has come down that Jim Boeheim intends to retire as the head men’s basketball coach in three years.
The news came from an e-mail from Kent Syverud, and has now been reported by the Post-Standard on Twitter:

So there you have it. We’ve been wondering for ages if and when the day will come, and whether or not Jim Boeheim would feel any immediate, personal repercussions from the NCAA fallout. On the surface, Boeheim seems to be stepping down in three years on his own terms.
