Syracuse Orange basketball recruit Malachi Richardson was the one making headlines yesterday, after being named the Gatorade New Jersey Player of the Year, but today it’s Moustapha Diagne’s time in the spotlight as the 6-foot-9 post player leads his Pope John squad against Newark Tech in the Tournament of Champions semifinals at 5:00 p.m.

Diagne and Pope John are the No. 2-seed in the TOC, with Isaiah Briscoe’s Roselle Catholic holding the top seed after both Pope John and Roselle won state championships last week. Diagne, who is currently Syracuse’s only true post player in the 2015 recruiting class, is averaging 14.8 points per game this season and has been a force on the glass, averaging 12.2 boards, and defensively with his long arms and shot blocking ability. Diagne is averaging 2.3 blocks per game.

The game against No. 6-seed Newark Tech will be streamed live, so make sure to check it out above when tip time rolls around.
