Well, that was fast. Shortly after taking a pledge from linebacker Tre Allison, the Syracuse football program has landed another commit from a linebacker – this time, junior college transfer Lakiem Williams.

The 6-foot-2, 240 pounder originally from Washington state (by way of Butte College) picked the Orange over offers from Toledo, Houston, Cal, Kansas, and a handful of others, and joins Allison, Jack Smith, and Juan Wallace as linebackers in the 2018 class.
Williams has two more years of eligibility left, and is also the second player from Butte to pick the Orange in the last calendar year – backup quarterback Clayton Welch is also a Butte product.
Williams had 63 tackles this past season for Butte, after recording 61 tackles as a freshman. He also had 3.5 tackles-for-loss on the year, and returned one interception 57 yards in a game in which he also made nine stops.
On his HUDL page, Williams claims a 40 time of 4.43, though it should be noted that time is unverified. Still, watching his highlights its readily apparent he’s a big, explosive athlete who loves to punish offensive players. Take a look for yourself…
