The early signing period may be over but the recruiting grind certainly hasn’t stopped for Dino Babers and the Syracuse coaching staff when it comes to the class of 2018. One of the top targets on the board for Babers is runningback Mychale Salahuddin, formerly a commit to Southern Cal, who today named the Orange among his top four.
Salahuddin, who will officially visit Syracuse in two weeks, as first reported by 247 Sports, told Pittsburgh Sports Now that the Orange, USC, Pitt, and North Carolina make up his top four schools. Salahuddin is a 5-foot-10, 193 pound back who is rated as a 4-star talent, and ranked by 247 as the third best all-purpose runningback in the nation. He checks in at the No. 4 RB in the 247 composite rankings.
One of the big selling points for Syracuse when it comes to Salahuddin, outside of a big opportunity for early playing time, is the fact that two of his friends are members of Syracuse’s 2018 class. Salahuddin just wrapped up his high school career at Woodson in Washington DC, which is the same high school as Ed Hendrix and, before he transferred to IMG Academy this year, Juan Wallace.
Salahuddin’s offer list reads as a who’s who of Power 5 schools, as you’d expect from one of the nation’s best runners. Clemson, Maryland, Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisville, Michigan, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and West Virginia are just some of the schools to have offered him a scholarship.
