As expected this early in the season, there wasn’t much change from week one to week two of the Otto’s Grove College Hoops Top Ten, with teams 1-through-8 staying right where they were last week, with the only change being the ninth and tenth teams flipping positions. Once again, the top three were unanimous across all polls received, with Kentucky once again easily claiming the top spot.

As you can see, the only real movement was at the back end of the top ten, with Kansas jumping Gonzaga, while Iowa State and Wichita State each snagged a vote, and find themselves on the outside looking in after each finding themselves ranked 10th on one ballot apiece.

Let’s be honest, that top three, and maybe even top four, isn’t going to be changing anytime soon. As conference play opens up, we might see some serious movement among the top ten, but as far as Kentucky and Arizona go in particular, we probably shouldn’t expect a lot of change between now and late January, barring a major upset. Duke has a chance to hang onto that second spot but squares off against Louisville and Virginia in January. They play the defending national champs, the struggling UConn Huskies, later this week.

The next couple weeks will prove to be extremely interesting for Kentucky as well, as the Wildcats will be facing off against UCLA and Louisville on the next two Saturdays. Considering how weak the SEC is this year (and most years, if we’re being honest), if the Wildcats are going to have their dreams of an unbeaten season spoiled, it’s probably going to happen in one of those two games.

If you’re looking for a potential loss for Arizona, the best bet at this point would probably be on January 17, when they take on a strong Utah squad. January 17 could prove to be one heck of an eventful day, as that’s also the day that Duke and Louisville meet up in ACC play, making those two games potentially massive in terms of how the top ten will shake out from that point forward.

Check back in next week to see our new rankings, and if you want to participate, send your top ten poll to by 8:00 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
