Once Chad Morris left Southern Methodist, it was apparent that the sharks would smell blood in the water surrounding that program’s 2018 football commitments. Today, Syracuse played the role of the shark, flipping 3-star linebacker Tre Allison from the Mustangs.

Allison, a 6-foot-2, 212 pound outside linebacker from Tyler, Texas, has seen his profile soar this fall after a big year at John Tyler High. Allison is a terrific athlete, with verified times of 4.6 in the 40 and 4.7 in the shuttle, with a vertical of 30.2 inches. Allison’s only other Power 5 offer right now is from Mississippi State, but it’s worth keeping in mind he had been pledged to SMU since January of this year.
Allison is the third linebacker to join the Syracuse recruiting class of 2018, along with Jack Smith and Juan Wallace. His commitment comes at the tail end of his official visit to Syracuse this weekend, which could still be even more fruitful with a couple other uncommitted targets on campus as well. It also comes shortly after the Orange got a pledge from safety Andre Cisco.
