Super Bowl Sunday is coming up and believe it or not, there’s actually a game to be played. I know, it seems weird, doesn’t it? After all, this is a week that’s been all about deflated footballs and players refusing to talk to the media. One of the key players in Sunday’s game will be pass rusher Chandler Jones of the New England Patriots, who joins a long list of Syracuse players to have played in the big game. This morning, I decided to look back through the rosters of every team to ever make a Super Bowl, and compiled the names of every Syracuse player to make an appearance.

Now, this is not exactly comprehensive in terms of Super Bowl participation, primarily because, while Pro Football Reference is great, it doesn’t list game participation in the box scores, and neither does NFL.com, for that matter. So with some reserves, like Paul Frase in 1998, I couldn’t determine whether they actually participated.

Still, every Syracuse player to have been on the roster of any Super Bowl team, win or lose, is presented here for you, because I apparently have nothing better to do on a Thursday morning. Oh, and I left out practice squad players, of course. Sorry, Taj Smith in 2010 and Alex Shor in 2009.

On to the list, which we’ll cover by decade!
