While most of the focus of Syracuse University football fans has been on Robert Washington‘s looming decision, his cousin Aapri Washington is already making a name for himself on the national combine circuit as well. The class of 2017 target – who already holds an offer from the Orange – was a standout performer at the Rivals Camp in Charlotte this past weekend.
The combine featured some of the top talents throughout the classes of 2016 and 2017 from around the region, and Aapri performed so well that we’re told he was named one of the top 10 overall defensive players at the combine.
The 5-foot-10 defensive back, who plays alongside his cousin Robert at SouthLake Christian, was one of the top performers in the secondary at the camp, and the speedy corner showed the ability to become a lock down defender at the next level. The recruiting process is only just getting started for Washington, but he already holds offers from a number of power five schools, including TCU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Boston College, West Virginia, Wake Forest, and of course Syracuse.
No matter what happens with the recruitment of Robert Washington, Aapri will still be a priority target for the Orange in the class of 2017, as he’s looking primed and ready to break out as one of the top cornerback prospects in America among this year’s rising juniors. With another year of growth, an impressive wingspan, lightning quick feet and a reported 40″ vertical, don’t be surprised to see Aapri emerge as a 4-star talent by this time next year.
