After holding off the Liberty Ballers 78-72 on Friday night in Chicago, Boeheim’s Army will move on to the quarterfinals of The Basketball Tournament tomorrow night with the game set to be televised on ESPNU at 8:00 p.m. There, they’ll face off against City of Gods, a team led by Dermarr Johnson, James Gist, and former Georgetown Hoya Mike Sweetney.
Hakim Warrick scored 19 points, hitting 11-of-14 free throws including a couple clutch freebies in the final moments, and grabbed seven rebounds. Willie Deane, who we’re quickly trying to adopt as a legitimate Syracuse University baller, added 16 points and Eric Devendorf had 15. Ricky Jackson made his Boeheim’s Army debut, scoring eight points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Team City of Gods knocked off Team Sideline Cancer because, as we always suspected, filthy Hoyas like Sweetney are out to destroy all that is good, including a team trying to eradicate cancer.
Make sure you tune into ESPNU tomorrow night to watch some Syracuse legends keep knocking off all the wannabes on their way to the $1 million prize.
