EAST LANSING, Mich. – With his team looking like it might not receive a berth in the NCAA Tournament this season, Michigan State University basketball fan Steve Johansson confirmed that he’s looking forward to whatever sport comes next for the Spartans, according to sources.
“Things haven’t gone so well for Sparty this season,” said Johansson, nursing a domestic beer with the faintest hint of a tear forming at the corner of his eye. “So whatever, I guess. I’m feeling like this is going to be our year in, uh…softball? We have a softball team, right? That seems like it’s going to be starting soon, I think. Hell, I don’t know. They’ll probably be pretty good, though.”
When informed that the Michigan State softball team has in fact opened the season and currently boasts a record of 4-1, Johansson nodded approvingly, noting he’d had a good feeling all along about this year’s squad.
“That Smith is a heck of a ballplayer, gonna set lots of records this season,” said Johansson. “There’s probably a Smith on the team, right?
There is not.
