This weekend, Syracuse commit Tommy DeVito will become the first Orange commitment since Zach Allen (remember him?) to compete at the Elite 11 Finals. The event begins on Friday, and continues through the weekend in Los Angeles. Out of the 24 finalists, a select number will then be invited to compete at The Opening in July.

DeVito was a fairly early invitee to the Elite 11 after winning quarterback MVP honors at the NY/NJ Opening regional, and is joined by a large group of big-time QB talents among the 24 players participating. Among those who will be competing for a spot at The Opening are:

Jake Allen (Fort Lauderdale, FL – Florida commit)
Connor Blumrick (Pearland, TX – Texas A&M commit)
Myles Brennan (Bay St. Louis, MS – LSU commit)
Chase Brice (Loganville, GA – Clemson commit)
Sean Clifford (Cincinnati, OH – Penn State commit)
Avery Davis (Cedar Hill, TX – Notre Dame commit)
Sam Ehlinger (Austin, TX – Texas commit)
Jake Fromm (Warner Robbins, GA – Georgia commit)
Chase Garbers (Newport Beach, CA – undecided)
Jake Haener (Danville, CA – undecided)
Hunter Johnson (Brownsburg, IN – Clemson commit)
Mac Jones (Jacksonville, FL – Kentucky commit)
Johnathan Lewis (Jersey City, NJ – Rutgers commit)
Ricky Lombardi (West Des Moines, IA – Michigan State commit)
Tate Martell (Las Vegas, NV – undecided)
Dylan McCaffrey (Highlands Ranch, CO – Michigan commit)
Davis Mills (Nocross, GA – Stanford commit)
Kellen Mond (Bradenton, FL – soft Baylor commit)
Lowell Narcisse (Saint James, LA – LSU commit)
Shawn Robinson (DeSoto, TX – TCU commit)
Chris Robison (Mesquite, TX – Oklahoma commit)
Jack Sears (San Clemente, CA – undecided)
Tua Tagovailoa (Honolulu, Hawaii – Alabama commit)

And, of course, Tommy DeVito, but if you’re reading this website, and this post, you’re already well aware of him. It’s an absolutely loaded field, with some of the most high profile programs in America represented. DeVito has a chance to make a big splash this weekend, both for himself and for Syracuse. A big showing this weekend will earn DeVito an invitation to The Opening finals, and would likely boost his national reputation and star-rating across the recruiting sites.

With a strong, accurate arm and a lot of intelligence to go with it, DeVito is a perfect fit for the Dino Babers offense. And the higher his profile, the better chance he has of convincing other 2017 recruits (such as CJ Holmes, for example) that Syracuse is on the rise.
