This one shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the fact that Miami is currently under FBI investigation, but word came out tonight that elite 2018 point guard Jalen Carey has eliminated the Hurricanes from consideration.

Yeah, this is a very good thing for Syracuse’s chances of landing its prized guard recruit. Carey has long been the staff’s top priority at point guard for several months, and with his October 11 decision date looming the Orange appear to be in the driver’s seat at this point. Carey’s final three consisted of Syracuse, Miami, and UConn and of that trio, Miami was viewed by many as the biggest competition for the Orange.
Now, Syracuse was considered the frontrunner even before this development, but it certainly boosts the likelihood of the 6-foot-3 guard committing to Jim Boeheim and his staff in a couple weeks.
